Partnership is about lead and follow. It is a great exercise for couples or even people just getting to know each other. You don’t have to have a partner to get started. Most ballroom studios offer private lessons as well as group dance classes. There are other single people learning to dance too, so you can often pair up with one of them, or one of the dance instructors. Ballroom is primarily partnership dancing. Leading or following as we dance with someone teaches us as much about ourselves as it does our partner.
